Select Board backs $321,783 in town meeting funding ahead of vote
Select Board · Meeting of April 21, 2026
Sturbridge Select Board backs $321,783 in special town meeting funding. Members voted unanimously to support two special town meeting articles: $216,783.57 for a snow and ice removal deficit and $105,000 for wastewater treatment plant clarifier repairs, ahead of Monday's town meeting. The board also authorized a $150,000 engineering study to relocate the Route 20 pump station out of the floodplain and approved a Liberty Elm planting on the town common for the town's 250th anniversary.
Vice Chair Chase Kaitbenski was absent; Member Kaidon Phillips voted by phone. The assessor's office abutters-list fee rises to $25 from $5 after officials found the town was "basically barely making if not losing money" on the service. The board also accepted a $5,000 anonymous donation to the senior center and pressed staff for a fuller accounting of $30,000 in ARPA-funded downtown plantings.
