Finance Committee · Meeting of April 2, 2026
Sturbridge Finance Committee approved the $1.11 million Capital Improvement Plan including a $250,000 sidewalk snowplow in a 4-3 vote on April 2, declining Committee member Mike Hager's attempt to exclude the equipment. Hager objected to the Select Board's recent policy requiring the town to clear sidewalks on Routes 20 and 31, citing potential liability and the conflict with town bylaw that assigns that duty to property owners. The committee also voted unanimously to take no action on a Special Town Meeting article proposing adoption of state laws the town discovered it had already adopted in 1990.
Finance Director Barbara Barry identified the previously adopted M.G.L. Chapter 40 and Chapter 83 provisions.
