STURBRIDGE — Board of Health advanced a formal nuisance complaint against Altruist Brewing Company. Health Director Kenneth B. Lacey Jr. reported that complaints from resident Manuel Rodriguez in October 2025 and March 2026 confirmed sour brewing odors throughout the facility; the brewery owner had agreed in March 2025 to modify brewing times but has not complied.
Director Lacey stated the brewery needs better ventilation and hood systems. Chair Linda Cocalis and Dr. Louis Fazen voted to proceed.
The Health Department is now fully staffed; Thea G. Mandalaywala was promoted to Health Agent on salaried status.
